My Blanket Weed has never returned

Last year you may remember I posted a lot about my blanket weed and Peter advised me that one of the problems was that I have two concrete stepping stones in the pond which has changed the ph of the water. Last year the amount of BW was unbearable. We were yanking it out daily. As you will know I did you Cloverleaf product Blanket Answer and it worked but so messy! However, after a couple of months the tell tale signs were coming back - the dreaded weed!

However through research and advice received here, last October I turned off my UV in the hope that the water would green up. I did not want to see the bottom anyway, or the pump or the wrinkles in the liner. Over time the water turned green and I have not turned the UV back on since.

This Spring I waited to see what would happen. It is now end of June nearly and I haven't had one single strand of BW. Hurray!!

I learned from this site that the two kinds of algae compete - the one for green water and the one for BW. I would much rather have green water and now have a beautiful wildlife pond which gives me endless pleasure with not a sign of any BW.
