Following on from the success of its launch last year, the Marshalls Garden Design Forum is returning to the 2008 RHS Chelsea Flower Show (20 – 24 May 2008), sponsored by Marshalls Plc, the hard landscaping transformation company. The Forum will host a series of interactive talks throughout the show, to give visitors the chance to pick the brains of some of the world’s best garden designers, florists, growers and plantsmen.
Interactive talks from award winning Show Garden designers, including Arabella Lennox-Boyd, Andy Sturgeon and Tom Stuart-Smith, will give visitors a behind the scenes glimpse into the creation of a Chelsea Show Garden. The designers will be able to answer any questions about their design, from what inspired it, to how they overcame their biggest challenge.
Blue Peter gardener, Chris Collins, and Sven Wombwell, TV gardener on shows such as House Doctor and Garden Invaders, will be telling visitors about the creation of ‘The Marshalls Garden That Kids Really Want!’
Chris Collins says, “There is so much that goes into creating a garden at Chelsea, and it’s something that most people never get to hear about. The work that we have done with Marshalls to get children involved in horticulture, and to find out what they really want from gardens, was a fascinating process and it’s amazing to see what can be achieved without the limitations of an adult mind!”
Other topics covered in the Marshalls Garden Design Forum programme include ‘New Garden Trends’ presented by Andrew Fisher Tomlin, ‘Herbs of the UK’ presented by Jekka McVicar, and ‘RHS Judging Debate’ by Andrew Wilson and Bob Sweet. James Alexander Sinclair and Jane Owen will compère the forum throughout the week.
Chris Harrop, Group Marketing Director from Marshalls Plc, says, “Once again we are delighted to hold the Marshalls Garden Design Forum at the RHS Chelsea Flower show. After its hugely successful introduction last year, I am sure the Forum will be at the top of many visitor ‘must see’ lists, especially when you look at the exceptional calibre of people who are presenting. It is very rare that people will have an opportunity like this to listen, learn and enjoy the insights of these leading professionals.”
There are 150 free tickets available for each session, which will be allocated on a strictly first come first served basis. Tickets are available each day from the Marshalls Garden Design Forum inside the Great Pavilion.
