The deadly fish virus, SVC has been found on goldfish imported into the UK from Honkong

Spring Viraemia of Carp (the deadly SVC) has been found in fish imported from the Tung Hoi Aquarium Company in Hongkong. The FHI and Cefas have placed movement controls on all the companies that purchased fish from the recent infected consignment. The Practical Fishkeeping site carries more details.

The Tung Hoi Aquarium Company is famous for the Guiness World record of 'Longest Ever Goldfish' at over 40cm. Their company motto is "Zero
Defect-do it right at the first time".

The threat of the disease spreading to the world of pond keepers is limited since Tung Hoi specialise in the sort goldfish that would only be suitable for an aquarium.
