Water fall

I have a small pond dug into the ground, it is mantained using a fishmate 4000 and 9000 hozelock filter with UV biological filteration tank. The water from the pond is pumped up to the top of the filteration tank, after filtering it is passed into an outlit pipe at the top, which inserted into a small plastic waterfall that I cut a hole into and tilted up against the filteration tank. It gives the effect of a water fall of sorts, but idealy is not what I had in mind, although I've used it for three years. I would like to construct a more natural looking water fall that allows the water to splash into the pond, although my fish are very healthy and happy and the pond is four years old, the water fall feature has always been a bit of a dissapointment to me and although I've tried designing and constructing a short water fall, they have always been unsuccessful and I've reverted back to the plastic one. I don't want a water course, but some thing like a slanting cascade.
I don't have a lot of room between the fence and pond, probably 4ft maximum.

Can any one help please?

What you need is a copy of the 'Perfect Pond Recipe Book'by Peter May. Its available from this site for less than a fiver from the books department of the ONLINE SHOP. If you go to http://watergardenermagazine.com/node/546 and scroll down, you'll see the first of the relevant pages to guide you through the project. I'm afraid the 'PPRBk' is all cartoons, so if you want it more pictorial, you want the 'Designing and Creating Water Gardens'. A bit more expensive but worth it when you think of the expense it will save in avoiding cock ups.

But then again, you are not the only one stuck in this mess. Other people have been asking about streams, so I've been scratching around for the unused photos from a book project to see if I can get some sort of visual story together. There are some forthcoming articles that are going to hail the praises of preformed waterfalls because they save stone, effort and pond polluting cement, but hey, you want to get away from that and build your own. Well if you wait a few minutes I will get you a 'QUICK FIRE GUIDE' coming up in the Articles section......

Here it is on http://watergardenermagazine.com/node/1242. Any questions and I'll answer them here and in the article.
